I saw that in the first couple of minutes. We'll see what happens. Hopefully it won't cost to much to fix if I get them.

:D

Congrats!! :tresbon::banana::thmbsp:

Should be looking good, pics please when you get them cleaned up!

This particular pair has tweeter problems. A quick search showed this model also has other known issues. Hopefully it won't be to expensive to fix.

They will be my 3rd pair of Thiels!
Woohoo!

Thanks Guys,
I'll post some pics when and if they make it home.

Bart,
Your signature "Karma - what goes around, comes around!!" came true today. I picked up some real cool vintage JBL/Altec cabinets for another AKer today. I'll take pics of those too.

I shouldn' be counting my chickens before they hatch...though.

All Ak'ers should have AK friends like this!! Can you give us a hint as to what JBL/Altec cabs you were stalking?

Regards,

Bart

These cabinets are huge but unfortunately empty. But the guy said it had JBL, Altec and something else drivers. The woofer opening is for a 15 incher.

Here are the JBL/Altec cabinets I got for Zilch. You can see how big they are sitting next to my bike.

Here is a quick and dirty pic of the CS2 2s. They're kinda dusty and still need to be cleaned up. They have about 30% more weight and volume than the CS1.2s. Plus two extra drivers.

I plugged them into my Sansui AU-D11 and they are power hungry! At low volumes it sounds just fine. When the volume goes up it's not the tweeter with the problem like the seller had mentioned. It's the mids, they distort/rattle. I started to take them out and decided I would call up Thiel before I do anything.

Even with the distortion they sound incredible! Unlike the other Thiels I've have/had, these have a great clean, powerful and tight bass punch. I have them in my small office/listening room. What really striked me was when I walked out of my office and halfway down the hall they were still sounding like I was still in the room.

I'm happy!
:D

Nice. I see a tweet, mid, and woof along with a passive radiator. Is there another speaker hiding somewhere?

I wonder what the Zilchmeister has in mind with those large cabinets? :D

Thiel has first class customer service. They fixed a bad equalizer on my CS3.5 at no charge, even paid for shipping. The speaks are 15 years old! I'm curious as to how they handle your situation. When I got mine I also had a rattle that I got rid of by tightening all the drivers much more than I felt comfortable doing.

Are the CS2.2 drivers made by Thiel? If so, and you need replacements, they are going to be VERY expensive. Maybe they are early enough that they're 3rd party.
