Things you don't see anymore.

Call me crazy, , , but, I think the woman with the frying pan might, , , just might, , have better results if she actually LIT the fire :dunno:

She's being environmentally responsible. The portable radio too, battery operated. The guy with the sweater and tie has a pipe in his hand, no doubt a thoughtful kind of guy and the only one in the picture not doing anything.

You're gonna have to search long and hard to find a FD with a garage door closing the bay.

This volunteer FD is hard to track down, but appears to be a 13 man operation in Davy, West Virginia. A short "facade" has been built on the left of the building as we see it here, with apparatus bay doors there; built on the lot we are facing, a small "Butler-style" metal building has been built with two bays facing the street. They have 4 fire calls per year, and have averaged 1 fire death per year since 2010.

Been puting a lot of think on the old "Davy" picture...

That staggered parapet above the roof line tells me the building was attached to another at the facing we are seeing, with a large opening between them protected by the sliding fire door. That door was inside the building that stood where the vacant lot and the Chevy are, protecting the sections of the larger building from each other.

The more "modern" picture I found (that I cannot seem to save or insert here), is taken from almost exactly the same position, though the feel is more obvious this was a row of attached buildings.

This little FD somehow took over the remaining end of the row, and used the opening for their bay, eventually building out the left side to put two bays there instead.

I looked for it but did not see it- maybe at about 1:00? But the video is probably 20-30yrs after the image.

I'm aware of your life's work in this field and glad that this has prompted some back burner brain cells!

Yes, about 1:08 !! Almost looks like the tried to open the front of the building, gave up, and build the smaller Butler metal building...nice find!
