I don't know a whole lot about this stuff but I've cycled through a whole bunch of old receivers and TTs and I'm CLOSE to a setup I like. In fact, I have two setups, one that I love: a Kenwood KD-2055 TT hooked up to an Onkyo TX-4500. In my bedroom I rip vinyl with a Sansui 4000 going to my onboard sound card and with a rotating cast of turntables and cartridges. I love the sound of this thing when it's coming from my computer.
Most of what I rip is not in pristine condition; in fact some of it is horrible. But I find that even when using the same cartridge, the Onkyo deals with scratches and pops so much better. From what I understand (and what makes sense to me) this could be because of the integrated amplifiers? I don't have a lot to spend here: most of what I use is salvaged and bought for $20 apiece thanks to a relentless scavenger mentality and a lot of garage sales, but I'm willing to go up to $50 or so.
Suggestions? Worth it at all? Wisdom?
