Thinking of jumping into Modern Hi Fi

I do love me some Dynaco's, but in my room, I feel tower, or bookshelves on stands work the best.

Haha, ya... just thought I would throw a different hat into the ring. Wasn't feeling too committed to my suggestion. However my greater point is that most A25 owners have never heard their speakers real potential. If you push them with high power they really sing and reveal their legacy.

Just an update on my slow progress, I ordered a Musical Fidelity V90-LPS, next up, likely a Musicial Paradise 301

You're going down the right road with the amp and speakers. I still have some vintage gear in my system but the preamp, amp and speakers are modern. :thmbsp:

is anyone familiar with the Acoustic Energy Aesprit 300? A pair has come on my local CL and I'm thinking of picking them up. The price seems great!

Well, I just picked up a Rega Brio-R and am loving it. I heard it at a local store a couple days ago powering a pair of Dynaudio Excite X12's, and was in love. Still have the KLH 20's, but I think the Capital Audio Fest will change that next week.

Why do we let people get away with these blanket statements???

Bare has a habit of dropping in on threads, crapping all over them, then disappearing. I would be shocked if he posts in this thread again. The guy is a virus that needs to be rid of.

Those will be the next step. I heard a pair of Dynaudio Excite 12's last weekend that are stuck in my head. I'd also like to hear a pair of Rega RS1's or RS3's since my system now consists of a Rega RP6 and a Rega Brio-R. I'm going to the Capital Audiofest this weekend, so I assume I'll find something there!

The Rega Brio R looks like a great integrated for under $1K. I was considering it when I saw a good deal on the Arcam FMJ-A19. Very similar in specs both with 50 watts/channel @ 8 ohms and a MM phono section. They are also both English in origin except the Arcam is assembled in the PRC. The higher up Arcams are made in the UK.

If you haven't picked up the Rega, you may want to check out the Arcam for a reference. In the UK, the Rega sells for about 450 Pounds (+/- $675) and the Arcam for about 650 Pounds (+/- $975). In the U.S. they generally sell for a $100 difference, the Rega at $899 and the Arcam at $999. I don't know if that makes the Arcam better or not. Both got rave reviews in the UK and US audio publications, but in What Hi-Fi, the Rega was compared to lower cost competitors.

I'm sure you can't go wrong either way. BTW, I really like my Arcam. Tamed my slightly bright system and very little fatigue.

Thanks for the info on the Arcam! I investigated it, but went with the Brio as I was able to hear it, and it certainly blew me away. I couldn't be happier with the setup that I currently have.

Thanks! Here's a shot. Notice the KLH speakers as stands for the Dynauduo's. We have 3 kittens and a dog, I feel they will be sturdier than normal stands for now.

Thanks! The wall mount was bought for a Thorens TD-160 that is now long gone. If I knew I was getting a Rega turntable 6 months ago I would have waited and just bought the Rega wall mount, but oh well, this one works!
