Ad says: "It needs a belt , motor work's" Looks like it might need a bit more than that. LOL!

I don't know, it almost seems it was done on purpose, maybe not. All I know is that I'm still laughing.

He should have taken the platter off and shown the motor at least. LOL

One of us should call the guy and ask for a demo. LOL!

Funny thing is that is a piece of what I believe is Franciscan Tableware.

The single plate is worth more than what he's asking for the Turntable.

Don't ask how I know.

No shame, I am a fan of Antiques Roadshow both US and UK. Perhaps someday we will see a piece of vintage audio on there. Now that would be funny.

Is that really true? I have a complete set of it sitting in a cabinet gathering dust. My mom gave it to me years ago when I got my first apartment. I thought it was just garden variety stuff.

My Mom has a set that was my grandmother's and from what I understand the early sets are quite valuable.

They still make the same pattern and I recently saw a few pieces at Marshall's and it was fairly cheap but like I said the early stuff quite collectable.

Like this platter:

I'm hoping we won't see any vintage tube gear on any of the dozen or so pawn shop, storage war, auction meister television shows that are so popular now. Yard sale/flea market scores would start getting scarce pretty quick. They're too darn hard to come by already.

Antiques Roadshow rocks. Lara Spencer was pretty easy on the eyes to. Much better than the glimmer twins.

Please lets not get anyones hope up here, this stuff was made for decades and then the Chinese started to repop it. I come across these sets every weekend at yard sales. The reality of it is that the porcelain/glass market has hit the rocks and shattered. Mccoy, Redwing, roseville, etc can be had for pennies..a lot of mid century pottery like bauer and maxwell still holds value. Even cut crystal is bottoming out, I have tons of it laying around my house. I use Bauer dishes as my every day eating ware and also Baccarat crystal.

Needless to say this was one funny ad :D

Me too, I have all the sacrifice out and preying to all the gods I can. I can tell you that storage wars is all staged, I've been to many many storage auctions. These things go for crazy let capitalize CRAZY amounts of cash, and I've never ever ever seen a car or modern furniture...its all staged....now keep your eyes open another one of these shows are coming to HGTV

That's about the most minimalist turntable I've ever seen! Thanks for posting it; I needed the laugh! :thmbsp:

:scratch2: ... Incidentally, did anyone follow-up to see what the real TT with working motor was like?

Innovative ceramic platter.Years before Rega and Kyocera.

Impressive. :thmbsp:

I can see the platter but not the table.

Guess that's because he has the mat under the platter, instead of on it!
