My Aunt has been partially deaf all her life - so has learnt to lip read - I think it possible that profoundly deaf people don't have too much of a problem because they are not fooled by the sound?.... People with partial hearing, like my Aunt, may have a problem though, although not now as her sight is seriously failing - she is 94 bless her.

Thanks Felix.

G'day mate, good on your Aunt, may she go on happily for a good while yet!

Interesting that the Wikipedia article indicates that people with Autism Spectrum Disorders are less likely to be affected by this (like me with Aspergers), yet I know that a version of this involving the written word has happened to me at a work course I once attended!

As Jimi Hendrix once said in EXP: 'You can't always believe everything you see and hear can you?' :D Regards, Felix aka catman.

So is it the McGurk effect if you put just a couple of transisters and a few resisters in a big shiny box with lots of buttons and switches...or conversely, in a big shiny box with *one* button artfully in the middle? :D
