I’ve always wondered why Axel Dahl said this of the Kenwood SUPREME 600..

Then came the KA-9100 in my collection and i got more interested. WOW, was all I could say when I started using it in my system..
now what about a Model 600.. almost unobtanium from what I read.. but sometimes..

Then saw this thread.. hmmmm, a Japanese version with a twist.. :scratch2:

to cut the story short, I was able to get one from a buy and sell shop thru a friend.
been using it for a week now with a Sony 333ESJ cdp and Electro Voice EV-Five and this is all i can say.

@GOYA, no mods done. we have a 220v system but 100v stepdown transformers are a plenty as we get lots of second hand japanese gears in our place.. :)
 
Wow! I know I like my 600...it is real good. I will definitely specify its allocation in my will :D. Congrats!
 
My roomie had that amp. And a pair of Sansui Kabukis...
I showed him that loudest was not always the best when I connected my NS 690s for an evening of LP listening.
 
Awesome! Those reservoir capacitors look like they say ELNA 71V 15,000uF, or maybe 18,000. Can't tell exactly. If you're a vinyl listener, what do you think of the phono stage? Phono 2 has a gain control and impedance adjustment, I wonder if that means it has an MC stepup.
 
It should be 18k if it is a Model 600 twin. 36k per channel for a whopping total of 72,000 µF.

soundstage is unbelievable at any comfortable listening level. :yes:
so far, i've tried it with several pairs of speakers ..
celestion 300, EV-five, EV Sentry 30, NHT SB3, JBL 4312.. fantastic result.. :music:

surprisingly, its not that heavy. its only 19kg (41.8 lbs) as per TRIO spec sheet. its may be due this, lifted from TVK:

"Incredibly enough, it is evident that the designers tried to save on weight, by using a half-chasis design, subdivided with bulkheads that also act as shields, and to to compensate for the huge weight of the power supply. The mechanical integrity is largely insured by the top and bottom cover."

and yes, its in very good condition..
