So, we had some storms last night and I took my best lightning shot ever around the end of it.

Title: 'Raw Fury.'

30s exposure@ISO80, 4.5mm focal length@F7.7
Taken on a Cybershot DSC-H300.

Be careful doing that. Nobody ever expects to be struck by lightning.

Fixed that ^^^ for ya. 'Course the fix would work better if I knew y'all used an actual camera, i.e., photo apparat, and not a "smart' device, which don't (in my experience) "click".


PS: What type of "camera" did'ja use @ that great top shot?

Cybershot DSC-H300, everything I've posted in this thread was shot on that bridge cam, and it's the only dedicated still cam I have right now, although I want to get a M4/3 kit of some kind for my next cam.

Yes, and it's pretty good for stills as far as budget-class bridge cams and P&Ses go, but its video capabilities are sorely lacking unfortunately, and it's based on old sensor tech - CCD vs. say, an HX99's Exmor R CMOS sensor, and of course a Lumix GX85 kit would have the H300 and HX99 beat on both the still and video fronts.

Nice pics of lightning, HPuser9557..

Though, I have come to enjoy, and prefer Nature`s energy discharge light show live, here in the upper end of FL`s infamous "Lightning Alley"..
The closer, and more intense the discharges, the more I enjoy while sitting on my open sides, but covered, back patio/porch.

Please be careful, whilst out in the open, taking pictures of nearby intense strikes, as I would not like to hear of your demise, or heath issues from becoming a inadvertent conductor to ground from a direct, or very close strike !!

I've been taking these indoors from the window 99% of the time, typically placing my camera attached to my mini tripod on the windowsill, that or just sticking my camera outside and pressing record and leaving it when filming a storm, like in here.

What I would like to get at some point is one of Sony's nicer action cams to mount either on a tree or just under the eave above my window to use as a 'storm cam,' that would be sick....

Or maybe one of the Go-Pro HD`s with remote ?
Though, probably any cam`s electronics could be fried if a strike was close enough, from the EMP blast ?!?
