This is not your regular Sony CDP CX300/350 Table Error!!

I bought a reconditioned Sony CDP CX300 CD changer. The belts are new, the table motor board and drive train look great. I've tested the original and a second (eBay) table sensor board and all sensors show what I would expect on the scope (0V to+4V) square waves. I was worried about the disc sensor system but that also checked out okay on the scope (0-4V) modified square wave, i.e. flat top V high threshold and curved low (shaped by table disc slots), yet every time almost without exception the table stops half a disc slot short of the target resulting in the typical back and forth hunting followed by Table Error, unless I manually nudge the table in the same direction half a slot (bumping the sensors to read the alternate state), then all is well. Has anyone else run into this and it there a fix (I've tried the mechanical and electrical adjustments on O&M manual's pg. 16 & 18 to no avail)?

Did you change the belts?
If not, I'd double check. those things have a lot of belts

Belts have been replaced. After tearing it down completely (removed the main CB IC501 to look for cold joints, etc) and rebuilding it with clean table sensors and clean disc sensor/emitter, then successfully completing the O&M manuals mech. and elect. adjustments the unit ran flawlessly for 18 tests (measuring the status of all the pins on CN507). So put the cover on and moved it from the workbench to the family room. Before setting it up completely in the entertainment niche I hooked up to power and optical out and get this it started table faulting half the time! What a sensitive bugger! Going to leave the cover off and calibrate the sensors one more time before gently moving the unit from the family room floor to the niche. Fingers crossed. BTW this unit has demons. Weeks ago I wiped clean the previous owners CD memos and entered a dozen or so of my CD names. Well after reinstalling the IC501 my memos disappeared and the previous owners reappeared. I have no idea how that happened as they were gone!
