This is odd...

Saw this interesting listing on Craigslist this morning:

http://denver.craigslist.org/ele/217613129.html

Did a little research to learn more and ran into this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Apogee-Mini-Gra...ryZ14993QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Seems odd to me that the same speakers are for sale on Craigslist in Denver and on e bay in Australia.

I'm not implying there is anything unsavory going on as I have no idea. Maybe the e bay lister has posted these on craigslist all over the place to get more attention for the auction.

Take care,

Ed

Surely more than one pair of these speakers were sold, even if they are not common as speakers go. I don't think it is TOO odd that one would be for sale in one location, and another for sale halfway 'round the world, at the same time, especially not in today's "small world", where people travel and ship things easily, and the internet links us all closer than ever before in a global economy.

Look at it another way: if these auctions are each two weeks long, than the most of these auctions that could conceivably be held in one year --worldwide-- is 25, and if you were to avoid "overlap", all auctions would have to be begun exactly on the "right" dates. In reality, if there are twenty pairs sold worldwide in a year, with ony half of them listed like these on the internet, the odds are still good that there will be two for sale at the same time, at least once or twice every year or two.

To look at it another way: IF these are that rare, then there probably weren't two of these for sale simultaneously last week, or last month... and probably won't be next month, either. But it has to happen SOMETIMES. This just happens to be that time.

Now, if there were two of these for sale EVERY day/week, all year round, I'd be surprised, because they are not all that common. But two Marantz 2216 receivers being listed at the same time occurs quite regularly. Can you imagine eBay without two Harry Potter books for sale at the same time? But two pre-war Rolls Royces of the same vintage? Well, that happens, too, just less often. So I guess what you are really saying is that these must be very rare speakers.

I ramble a bit, but I hope you can follow what I'm trying to say. I don't find this odd at all.

What is odd is that it appears that the same pictures were used in both instances.

Take a look at the pictures. It's not two of the same kind of speakers for sale, it's the same pair for sale in Aus. AND Denver CO at the same time. At least the pictures are the same.

Weird. Indeed they're the same pics.

Funny enough, I just got a respone email for some speakers I had asked about 2 months ago on CL. The email said that the speakers were in great shape. 2 months ago! This is the first time I hear from the seller.

In the email, there is my original email in quotes. I guess it's not weird afterall.

But the Denver/Ozzie connection is weird. Who's zooming who?

Denver-boy is either lazy (stole pics) or scamming. Along with the sourcing of the images being in .au, looking at a closeup of the power brick indicates 240Vac line power...
