Well I was tempted to let one try out the Crossman Pellet pistol but with all the cats around it wouldn't come out of the tree. Besides we wouldn't want any fly by shootings.
Could be Green Winged Teal ducks as they are smaller, and the males have a green head like you described. We have a small pond with a large swamp oak next to it and a few years ago we had a gathering of a variety of ducks (unusual because normally we only have Mallards). It was the first time I had seen ducks in a tree (Wood Ducks), however I don't remember the Teals, which had come to the party, being in the tree.
Well it was twilight and overcast and they were in shade. I never got a good look but seeing ducks in trees kinda made my day. As a danderhead I can be easily amused.
Again I suspect there were hawks overhead. The Redtails are moving through and I have seen them hunt in pairs. If I was a little duck I would get the hell out of the sky too.
I thought you might catch that. You are pretty smart for a dunderhead with a blunderbuss that just wants to buy the Magic Bus. I want it, I want it, I want it.......can't have it!
Being from Oregon, we have both Beavers and Ducks. I usually prefer to keep my Duck in a bush and a Beaver in my hand....... that's just me though. We are talking about wildlife, right?
