About 6 months ago I bought a Thoren 165 and it has worked perfectly since the day I bought it. Today I plugged it up and turned the knob to activate the platter but absolutely nothing happened. Is there anything I can troubleshoot or is it just dead? We really love our Thoren and would really like to get it working again. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Few things to check 1) Check to belt to see if it's still on and no slipping 2) make sure the motor is spinning 3) make sure the plug is live i.e. check the fuse box.

If its plugged in and the belt isn't off, will it run if you spin the platter to get it going?

there is almost nothing inside of one of these. A switch, a phase shift cap, a motor, and a belt is really the entire unit. Not going to say motors never go bad but I'd be testing the switch and the cap before assuming it failed. Visual inspection will tell you all you need to know about the belt.

Assuming a stock Thorens you have one end of mains power to check. If someone has been refurbed the TT, perhaps they added and IEC plug on the turntable end. These come loose too. Especially when vacuums on the floor grab them and such. Also assuming you have a stock TT then the only way to change speed is lifting off the outer platter, to check the belt. A slipping belt can also be the issue if all looks okay at rest, turn on the power (assuming it's been checked) and watch the pulley if its spinning but the inner plater isn't moving, it's a belt. Vinyl Nirvana has the correct belt, and supports parts for your table.
