Thorens antiskate weight, how heavy?

I need a favor. Would someone who has a Thorens TD-165/166/146/165 II/166/II with the hanging weight and a scale weight this piece and let me know what it weights?

Maybe using something like a stylus scale to get an accurate measurement.

I need to make one of these for my 165 arm.

My Thorns TP-11 tonearm (stock arm on the 166) has a double weight..a little one, and a larger one that slips over it. 1 gram may be right for the little one, but I think both together (as most people use it) was 3 grams...but I am no expert and the last time I held 3 grams of anything...well let's not get into that:nono:

Thanks all, I have put a one gram weight on the six notch as per the OM with 1.5 tracking force. I'm going to spin a few and see how it works. Preston

I have a digital gram scale and the two weights from my TD-116 MkII which has the detachable armwand tonearm uses the two weights the smaller of which fits inside the larger one and combined mine weigh 2 grams.

I lost the large weight for my 165. It may turn up some day but in the meantime I also need the solution above. I suppose if I get a gram scale I can try out some crimp on fishing weights or something like that to come up with the total as shown on the Thorens page.

Using just the small weight seems so insignificant in practice that it seems that it can't be doing anything. Maybe just my imagination but I like the combo of the 2 weights. I think that would be with tracking force at 1.5 grams or there abouts.

There was an auction on Ebay 2 nights ago for the exact weights needed. I lost the auction in the last few seconds because I forgot about the secondary "confirm bid" screen that comes up. They went for $17. :dammit:

PS: I don't think anyone has ever answered the question of the difference between 165 and 165C. I have the C version that I bought new in 76 or 77. Might stand for "even cheaper" build but not sure. Off hand, it may be the cheap dust cover that is the difference. Mine is hinged in the back (1 broken now) where most 165's I see are hinged by pin on each side.

This is what we are looking for. Small weight is .6g and large is 1.4g. No info on string length.

A combination of split shot weights as shown below should come up with the right result. If you needed the entire weight assembly then 1 LSG weight attached to a very thin monofilament string would do the trick. I'll have to measure the line length of the small weight I have.

You know, I've noticed near the bottom in the tonearm data link below the bit of misc information that is a little confusing. I assume the statement means large = combined small/large weight. Pretty sure the large weight alone is 1.4 as stated above.
