Hey guys. I had a Thorens 124 that has been sitting in a storage box for a while, and with the impending birth of my daughter, I thought I'd give it a thorough rebuild. It was in remarkably good shape with the rubber parts still pliable and tediously rebuilt it over about three weeks. My daughter was born, then back into storage it went for about four months.
I recently started putting it through its paces and have noticed an unusual problem: speed fluctuates with the brightening and dimming of the strobe. When the strobe is bright, I can dial in the speed with only minimal drift. When it dims, the speed decreases a bit for a few seconds until it brightens again and gets back up to speed.
This sounds more like a power problem, than a mechanical one. I have briefly looked over the wiring (and hope to do it again over the next couple of days) and replaced the capacitor with no changes. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Could it be an issue with the motor?
