Not sure if it helps, but here's a TD-165, the 160's little brother posted up here in BC for $100 (Can) - sounds like it needs a bit of work:

That does help.
This guy says his dust cover is trashed too.
Seems to be a lower level model and not too highly regarded.
Im not familiar with the Thorens line. Im still using a 1970's Dual 1219.
I like it but have been curiously looking for a replacement.

Interesting - I was just in to our local (one and only) audiophile-type store getting a new cartridge for my Akai. The guy there, when I asked about mid to late 70's turntables, said "look for a Dual or a Thorens". I lamented to him as to how my father-in-law had just thrown away his Dual 701

However, I will bow to others with FAR more knowledge on this subject.

I purchased the TD-160 mentioned by Van Isle listed for $ 145 on CAM. I actually paid the $ 145 which I thought was a very fair and reasonable price. I had the chance to check it out completely to make sure the motor was running well with no wobble or noise and the bearing was in good condition. No dustcover but then I'm going to be rebuilding it with a custom plinth anyway so who cares.

Most of the TD 160's seem to be around $ 200 Cdn. The $ 185 seems very fair depending on the condition of the table and that cartridge which I know nothing about.

Well, assuming we are in the same city, Victoria, I was speaking of Sound Hounds on upper Fort St. If you haven't been there check out the back room with the used equipment. But I mentioned them because far as I know they are the only "brick and mortar" place offering new highend equipment. Think there are other places out there but not as visible. However, wander across the street and check out the used equipment at Q-Lectronics.

I bought a really nice condition TD165 for $125.. I'd say that was fair to both sides of the deal.

Ok, Ive got an idea now.
I thought that just the name Thorens would get more than that.
It sure "looks" alot more refined than my 1219. I paid $140 for it 5 years ago and yet to have any major service.

Im prepping for that and thought two tables would be a good idea.
Isnt there a Dual refurb guy on AK in Iowa?

Unfortunately for the industry, I'll never buy new equipment.

I never took notice to your user name. Nope, I'm on the mainland and I haven't really found any good places which sell vintage audio here.
