Thorens TD124 MKii with Audio Technica AT-1503 (IV) and Ortofon 2M Black?

Hello everyone,
I have currently an SME 3012 on my TD124, but a friend is trying to convonce my to mount a AT-1503. Any Thoughts?
I have a Ortofon 2M Black.

I’m a fan of the AT tonearms but wouldn’t make that swap unless you’re just curious, best option is adding a 2nd tonearm…..

Besides, the pivot to spindle mounting distance of the MkIV = 242 mm, you'll have to be "creative" to mount it on the normal armboard side.

I mounted my ATP12T (242mm) at the back.

Yeah I’ve done the same,(bottom image) and made some layered examples for others…

Based on your experience... It's better to have the sme 3012 attached to the armboard or to the plinth?
My assumption is that on the plinth should be much better, since it's much more isolated, but I am no expert.

Personally prefer my tonearms mounted off the actual table—many like them on the table if so equipped and I make a lot of table armboards so…..
