Last weekend I went to a local garage sale that had records listed for sale, asked if they had any gear and came away with a SOTA Star Sapphire and they threw in a nice Thorens TD160 MKII.
It didn't have an arm, so my choices are to find a suitable arm for it, part it out or keep it as a parts units (did I mention I all ready have a Thorens TD160 MKII.

I don't really want to put a lot of money into it.
Does anyone know what the M.D.S. on it might be?

Linn arms work well on these but even a Basik arm plus board would easily run $200, and not necessarily perform better than the stock setup you already have. Same for a Rega, and those need a little subchassis surgery to fit.

I guess what I'm saying is, in your situation I would keep it for parts or trades, or swap the pieces from your other unit over if the "new" one is in better shape.

As for the lettering, I would think those are a previous owner's initials.
