Thoughts on a Bryston 2B-LP?

I took a chance and bought a Bryston 2B-LP. I don't have it yet, as it'll need to travel a fair distance, but I'm hopeful. I remember various studios and radio stations using small Brystons and thought they were rather nice.

So, those of you who know of it, did I do all right? Make a mistake? Royally screw up? Any quirks I should watch for or maybe recommendations for a good preamp to pair with it? (I'll use my Rotel RC-1010 with it for now, but I'm considering other ideas.)

Thanks.

I had a 2B-LP a few years ago. GREAT little amp. I had is paired with a Bryston 25 preamp with a Rega CD player and it was exquisite. It is rated at 60 watts per channel, but it is a beefy 60 watts. The only thing that I had a complaint about was that the speaker binding posts are too close together. Once I had the polarities touch and the amp went into protection mode. Discovered the problem, fixed it, and turned the thing on a BAM worked like a charm.

Bryston has a great reputation and a fantastic service department. You get a 20 year warranty that is transferable to the present owner.

Wish I still had that set up, but alas, burglars took it along with much of my collection. Best of luck with your new toy.

I've had one for 5 years, I keep it as a backup, and plan to use it in a system with a .5 preamp in the future. Sound-wise, it's the real deal and displaced my Onkyo M-588! I suppose it's not so shocking though, it retailed for over $2,100 at the end.

image.jpeg I commented yesterday about Bryston gear in the B-60r thread. Originally had two of these, used bridged. Powerfull and dead quiet. I kept one as a backup. I've used it with a variable output CD player and no preamp. Also with an Advent 300 as a preamp. It did not disappoint.
The binding posts are close. Easily taken care of with spades or bananas. A 1/2" nut driver could come in handy.
Enjoy!

Thanks, everyone. Sounds like this should work well, especially in a small/medium room setup. I'm a little concerned about its 2,500 mile journey but looking forward to it.

An update if anyone's interested. I finally received it after it had a cross country trip, on a day when nearly everything was flooded. I even called FedEx to notify the driver not to attempt delivery as I didn't want the driver to risk himself, but he never got the notification. Fortunately the water had receded by the time he arrived (just as I was leaving to go see Benny Golson play).

The seller, incidentally, took exceptional care packing it for shipment. Probably the best I've ever seen.

In any case, I'm quite happy with it. The closeness of the speaker binding posts was a bit of an annoyance/issue with bare wire, so I got some banana plugs which made connecting much easier. I find it a bit odd that the left and right RCA inputs are very widely spaced, but the speaker binding posts are not. Other than that small thing it's great.

outputs set to allow use of dual banana plugs for both the stereo use of the amp and the mono use of the amp. Yes, makes it tight to get in there with wire and banana plugs are a good solution.
