Thoughts on a Sony PS-LX520

I do have the PS-LX520. I got it about a year ago. Great turntable. I bought it from a guy who repairs and restores turntables. So like I said, I have had this for about a year and it came with the original Sony Cartridge & Stylus... which I changed as I did not know how many hours were played on this stylus. My question is I have noticed lately that when I press the start / play button and the tone arm starts to move into position, there is a "slight" grinding noise for about a second at the very beginning and then the arm drops down. I tested this out by pressing the up/down button and then pressing the left & right button to move the arm across. It seems to be only happening when the tone arm is first engaged at the beginning. I have seen several videos on the tone arm belt replacement... adding lithium grease to the gear box for the tone arm adding grease to the bar that the tone rides across. Just wanted to get any suggestions or course of action.
