I don't buy audio gear based on looks but this TL8500 grabs me. at first I thought it was a turntable
and if it was - I'd sell everything (well almost everything) to have one.

the only catch is the lid - you have to lift it so it will have to be on top of something,
other CD changes have a slide out so you can stack the unit in between components.

I'm using new Dell laptop running Windows 10 but I have other laptops running windows 7 . I have a rather large external HD or if I needed I could get another, they are relatively inexpensive now adays.

As a starting place, I'd suggest using Windows Media Player in Windows 10. 10 lets rip your CDs to FLAC files. Use FLAC, and see what you think.

What speakers do you have on the Marantz ?

I have Technic M5's on the Marantz 2238b , I can't say I dislike the sound I get from them, do I know if there are better sounding speakers, No I don't because we don't have the audio stores around anymore. My buddy that suggested the Jolida also owns a set of Klipsch Heresy II's and we are going to get together with the Dac I'm getting to see how they sound. He has also spoken very much of the FLAC files and seeing as I now have a Dell laptop with Win 10 your suggestion will be tried. My buddy has also been telling me he has come across a set of mint Heresy II's right here in town for $550 Can $ so options are open and perhaps coming together.
