Thoughts on new Kef R series?

I currently have Mirage m3si for my mains, mcsi for a center, and frx surrounds. I like my current setup but I am very intrigued by the new Kef R series or even the old, now discounted, R series. Has anyone heard the R3 or R300s? Any thoughts on if I should make the plunge into Kef? Would be looking to get a surround setup to replace what I currently have.

Just fyi he's my brother, and he likes bass LOL. But he does have Dual Dayton 12" subs too. Powered by Emotiva gear.

The best way to find out is to audition them for yourself. I've only heard positive things about them for what it's worth.

That would be ideal but unfortunately there are no Kef dealers within a reasonable driving distance. I have heard a lot of positives about them as well. Between that, the good reputation Kef speakers have, and my brother being a Kef fan, I was just curious if anyone thought it would be worth it to invest the extra money into switching.

I'm asking around about dealers. Personally I think you're going to gain a smaller footprint...they won't dominate the room nearly as much as those big M3SI's. They will probably sound a little more refined, maybe a little less "spacious" though, since those M3SI's are bi-directional (with the speakers firing both backward and forward). If you value going a lot smaller with your speakers, but still having great sound, I think it's worth the switch, especially if you shop around and buy either on sale or used.

If you don't mind those HUGE speakers in your new place, you could keep what you have. At least your amps and subs will work with whatever you get.

You may also want to post on Audiogon, they deal a lot with newer and higher end gear there. Not that there's none of that here, just more of it there probably. A lot of vintage audio fans here.
