Thoughts on this LP list....????

Super Member
Wondered if you all with more knowledge thought there were any gems on this listing? They don't need to be 'scores', just good titles to be able to get. Equally, any complete dogs, guess I'd be interested in those thoughts also.

All thoughts are welcome. Thanks for looking.

I'd take them all.. yeah.. might be one or two artists there not so much worth the hassle, but you get better deals with big lots...

What do they want for it?

How about if I answer that after I conclude matters this evening? I don't mind sharing the details later. Meanwhile, I will PM you, OK?

As to my question....any more specific comments on the list apart from 'not bad'.

Nothing stands out as super rare but there are some nice albums that should be in everyones collection. Value is dependent on the pressings. Original pressings are usually worth more.

Seems to me to be a lot of fairly common titles and greatest hits collections.
No gems, no dogs, and all stuff easily found in used record stores daily.

What's the scoop on it? Do you have a line on someone's collection?

Yes, a collection ....

The collection.... needs to be bigger... never can get too many in a lot. The more you get, usually the cheaper they are...

If I didn't have well over half those albums I'd go after that lot. If the price was right I still would, hoping some of them were in better condition than some that I have.. I'm never afraid to pick up doubles of stuff I know I have, but not sure of the condition. You can always resell them here in Barter town and recoup your costs..

You will find the pressing number on the jacket and the vinyl. The Goldmine Record guide is a good starting point for easy reference.

How does one know if something is an original pressing? I know books have listings of 'editions' inside the jacket. [You can tell that I am new to all this]

This s where you just have to know your music, and know your bands and years LPs came out and stuff like that... With this lot, I wouldn't be worrying about which pressing it is.. Like it's said, most of it is standard stuff, and a lot of it you would see in dollar bins at many record stores.

I wouldn't pay more than a buck an LP for this lot, and I'd try and half that if at all possible..

You can also get a Goldmine book and look things up when you go to look at lots of LPs.. just pick out the gems and then check the values and labels and such..

Well, if you like classic rock that's a nice collection. The Rush and Triumph would be the highlights for me. Too many Greatest Hits in there to make it really valuable.

AT least one person liked that music enough to put it on their own shelf.

I'm perplexed, though. Mahogany Rush, Max Webster, BTO, Triumph, rush, Chilliwack, Lighthouse, and no Guess Who? Strange.

I'd like to have that PF "Momentary Lapse of Reason." Most of the rest I either have or don't really want.

Get the Spinal Tap, That albums is amazing. Also get all the george harrison.
I gladly take the spinal tap if you don't want it.
Also get the monkees album, I love the monkees.

Wow tough call. If I were starting out a collection, there are definitely alot of interesting and must-have titles (to me) mixed in here like the Stones, George Harrison, Clash, Zeppelin, David Lindley.

Everyone has different tastes, but alot of the middle of the road and 80s titles here, as has been said, can be easily found - chances are every thrift in Vancouver has copies of alot of these titles which you might be able to pickup on a discount day for 25 cents, etc. If you're into stuff like Howard Jones, Poison, Angel City, Guns n Roses, I think it's alot easier to get excited about this collection, OTOH keep in mind that those titles are easy to find.

Think bulk price here - I'd be looking at 25 cents or less per title if you grab everything. That would make it easier to digest the chaff. Good luck.
