Thoughts please - Realistic Lab 400 or Thorens TD-146

Im perfectly happy with my Realistic Lab 400 however I have the opportunity to get a Thorens TD-146 at a really good price. Does anyone have experience with these two or either of these tables? Is one better than the other. Are they in the same league. Would the Thorens be a upgrade for me? Your thoughts/opinions are appreciated!

Without actually reading the specs, but owning a Thorens TD-160 and having used a TD-145, I would expect the Thorens would be a big step up. Best is to search the web for feedback about the TD-146, and then make a decision. I also expect resale price on the Thorens would be higher.
 
The Thorens 146 is a nice turntable. I have had mine since it was new. It's not one of the higher end models, but still sounds good. I am not familiar with the Lab 400 turntable, and cannot offer any kind of comparison.

Im thinking the same - I would imagine the Thorens would be "better" However, the reviews aren't great regarding the TD-145 but the reviews and my experience with the Lab are excellent. Is this because they are two different types of tables - being put up against tables in different leagues? I don't know...
 
Lab 400!!?? Oh my....RS fans like me love them. That being said...the Thorens is a great looking TT and if it is anything like their others it will be a step up. Just my opinion....
 
I liked the 145 I used. It was comparable to my TD-160 keeper.

I did do a little research out of curiosity, and here in Canada, the average price for a Lab 400 is $200 and the average price for a TD-146 is $350. Interesting since the 160 is going for about $500 right now. I still think from an investment point of view the 146 would be a better investment. Unfortunately, even though Realistic made some very good stuff, Thorens made much better gear and is recognized for this.

For daily use, you may prefer the Lab-400.

Give the Thorens TD-146 a test run before selling the Lab-400. :idea:
