Three MI-200s? I Don't Think So, Chinese Car Jack For Sure

What are these things? Industrial amps pieced together on custom Mc chassis?

The only thing I see for sure are a Chinese car jack and several vintage make-up cases.

During the new quest for a twin for my MI-200, I saw these advertised by Archaic Audio for $7500 on several sites. They don't resemble the MI-200 (except for one transformer for the power supply), and they seem to be some sort of custom amp set-up pieced together by Mc for some industrial application. I don't see anyplace where an 8005 would go.

If they were MI-200s they would have been gone by now. Wonder if the car jack is part of the deal. Good thing these babies were lovingly placed in a climate-controlled garage.:D

Goodness - what a lack of merchandising! I wonder how much $$ this guy has tied up in all that old gear?

As for the McIntosh stuff, I'd wonder what the output transformers were all about. This mainly to determine if those amps were limited bandwidth for the original application.

Thanks for sharing, too.

Cheers,

David

You can see from the photos that these are pretty much MI-200 type power supplies, however the amplifier is not a MI-200. There are four output tubes of some sort, and they are not 8005s....(see below)

Did some searching and on another website, people were trying to crack these mystery MI-200s, with no success.

The only bit of info that was on there from another user was:

"The output tubes are 6BG6s that are similar to 6L6s. It seems logical to estimate the total outputs from four 6L6s to be around 100W..."

So what seems to be here is a half of a MI-200. Maybe it is the ultra-rare, elusive MI-100.
