Thrift store find - Wisdom Infinite grand speakers

I have heard the Rush's and believe me they are not worth the 100 large they cost

Well the front hall has a cathedral ceiling so those tall ones might fit but that's no place for a sound room. But then I'd have to sell the house to buy them so fuggedaboutit.

Rob

I would have to cut two large holes in my ceiling for the 15' required height, and knock out a few walls to meet the 35' x 50' min room requirement. I would then have to purchase another 23 amplifiers to meet the min channels of required amplification.
I would then have to reinforce my floors to hold the 1,400+ lbs combined weight of the speakers, not to mention having to take out a 30 year loan at over $2,000 per month with about $150,000 down payment.
I wonder if the wife will like these:dunno:

If I were that guy in the picture, I would move out of the way.
Looks like that 1/4 million $$$$ tower on the left is about to fall over on him.

If I am spending $600,000 for some speakers they better not be as fugly as those things :puke:

And I always thought it was the MUSIC that it was all about? Apparently I was wrong. :D

It's the same old same old - MY SPEAKERS ARE MORE EXPENSIVE THAT YOUR SPEAKERS!

Ya, but your speakers are s**t.

Says who?

Says Grumpy.

Where do I get to smash this Grumpy?

Well, head out on Interstate .....

:yippy:

I heard this smaller Infinite system at this year's CES. It was advertized as being part of a $500,000 system. It was singularly unspectacular. Muddled image, ill defined bass and completely uninvolving. Over the past two years, I've heard at least a half dozen Wisdom setups at CES, and as far as I'm concerned, they're all craptacular.

Reinforcing the floors makes me think of a local builder (who shall be nameless, but before building we had rented two of his houses). Apparently all the guests had gather around the grand piano for a song fest. It didn't say whether they were still singing as they all wound up in the basement.

So the bottom line is:
Half a million can get you an overweight, oversized, ugly speaker system that probably doesn't sound much better than the Infinity Kappa 6's I just paid 70 bucks for at Salvation Army:saywhat:

Dave, I see what may have been the problem with that rig you posted.

The speaker cables are laying on the floor, we all know they should be lifted off the ground and isolated with small plastic pods.

;)

Cheers,
Russ

Half million? $600K? Bah, cheapskate.

How about the WHOLE million? At least with these, you would THINK you could get something that would have some SERIOUS dynamic range...

BTW, to put the picture in perspective, the outside cabinets are double-15" "scoop" horns, ala JBL C55s and the like, turned on their sides... the speaker cabinets are like, 8 feet tall

So, Thor... reckon THIS would do it for ya??? :D

Regards,
Gordon.

for the price of the speakers ...I would just hire the bands ...Its cheaper...and would sound better!!:guitar:
