Thrift store weirdness in the Vinyl section.....how do you think this happened?

Yesterday at the Salvation Army there was some shenanigans afoot in the Vinyl area. There were 5 new crates of LPs. Every crate contained records as such: empty cover, naked disc and then empty inner sleeve. Another empty cover, naked disc and then the empty sleeve. Why? How?

My guess is that someone with a small child in tow let them play in that section and they did it. Nobody stores records in such fashion so I doubt they arrived that way. And I know the workers didn't do it. The good news is 95% the records were in nice shape. Most of the inner sleeves were plastic lined LEBO or Realistic so whoever originally owned them cared about their records.

How did they wind up so bizarrely arranged?

That is strange. In my Salvation Army the strange part would be the 5 crates of albums! :rflmao: :rflmao:

"It's a Dog Park." :rflmao:

But sometimes... outstanding LPs (like where did THESE come from???) & great CDs. And... other stuff like designer cloths, M & M-, and I found a very expensive 'huge' framed paintings. SA - don't score often but when you do - IT'S HUGE!!!!!!!

Last time I went scored on a brand-new pair of Daniel Cremieux blue jeans, made in Mexico, fit outrageous, absolutely unreal. $6.

Found many outstanding titled M- collector types LPs @ SA. Crazy. And at least 25 M- great titled CDs, and an outstanding high-altitude Patagonia red outer jacket, $10 or $12. Unreal jacket.

@ the SA, when you 'hit', you hit huge!!

Went to GW yesterday. Scored on a Brand New pair of Tommy Bahamas Kacki pants, with tags, fits like a dream, $125.00 on the tag, for $8.

And a lesser score but equally just as fine - a New stiff pair of Dark Black Wranglers, the old 'Rock & Roll' style fit!!! - $6. Looks like never worn. Tag said 36x30 but fit like a snug 35x30 - perfect for me! Maybe the guy bought them but never tried them on.

Don't need long pants but how do you say no?? :)

And... 3 M- JAZZ CDs - one was the Verve Years hits of Wes Montgomery. First 7 songs slow style but the last 7 most excellent.

A few months ago over a two week period I scored 3 pairs of like new leather Nike sneakers, one pair high-tops for $40 from the same seller.

were they selling the albums and covers separately? My local Salvation army sells covers and records separately. Covers are 1 dollar and albums are generally 3-5. They will go so far as to sell higher dollar stuff separate too with a tag that says cover and vinyl for $25 (or whatever price.)

No. Never heard of such a thing. How are the vinyl records themselves displayed? In the inner sleeves in the same box/crate as the covers? That's actually quite evil to offer them for sale separately. Especially with this trend of whippersnappers buying records only for the covers as wall decorations. Let them buy the whole package just as we buy the whole package when an either/or upgrade is the motive.

Do posters, stickers and ephemera also get a separate price tags? What about vintage hype stickers?

No they are in separate milk crates. I'm going to guess posters or other inserts (besides the inner sleeves) are in the covers. TBH I've never checked.

Rereading my previous post I guess what I said is a reflection of something that I have long practiced when selling records myself. From time to time I have sold multiple records that are part of a "set" and it always seemed cruel to list them individually. I hate when a "set" of records I want is listed individually. What if I only win two of the four?

As an aside I was in this place recently and checked inside one of those old, typically ragged LP binders that usually holds 12" Classical shellacs. Inside were two vinyl Opera records and one nearly pristine LP for Veterinarian Medical students to learn how to interpret different dogs heartbeats!

I was at a Goodwill store about a week ago looking through all the CDs they had. As I looked though them, I did some straightening and put them back nice and neat.

I was walking away when a couple of kids around the age of 13 came up and started looking through the CDs and proceeded to make a huge mess of them.

I thought, "Well, at least I tried...".

I had a prolonged discussion/ stand up comedy routine with the assistant manager at SA about a pair of speakers I was somewhat interested in that were priced individually.
The tag on one was prominent, the tag on the other obscured. When the price rang up double what I was expecting, I asked if this was normal policy, commented that it was odd, and by the time the conversation ended, I had the whole queue of checkout customers laughing at my conversation ender- "do you also price ear rings separately?"

Same exact thing happened to me at the GW about a year ago. I personally always straighten up the CDs every time I go to GW & SA.

Welcome to the newer generation - not very much respect - none really. :dunno: For me... I enjoy leaving all the CDs neat, straightened out, and I really do also think of it also as 'good luck'!! I also look at the front of the CDs too because I'm looking for M- slim double and triple cases that hold the CDs tightly as well.

But I've also seen 'some' regular type folks, who should know better, just throwing around cloths and other stuff too. Blows my mind really - Just does.

It's not hard - just be polite and leave it all straight, in order, and easier for the next person - JUST BE A NORMAL HUMAN BEING with some respect for others. And respect for the store workers. Why make it hard for them??

My 2 cents.

I appreciate that!
Pardon my ignorance if I may ask, what is this M - term that you have used. The first one I noticed referenced Wes Montgomery who happens to be one of my favorites.
Thanks in advance!
