Time window pain

Grabbed a pair of Timewimdow 1a from Goodwiill, had no bannana plugs to test them but for $25 worth a chance.
So one sounds great, the other I only get tweets and not at full volume.
I pulled the crossover and nothing obvious.
Any thoughts?

Do you have a multimeter? Check resistance on each driver, disconnected from the crossover.

Likely it has a blown woofer, bad woofer connection, or (least likely) burnt inductor in the crossover.

There is probably a cap in series with the tweeter, if it was overdriven the cap could be way out of spec, hence the low level. Or a resistor out of tolerance if there is one. Or a bad or dirty tweeter level control, if there's a knob on the back.

Checked the drivers and both are open!
Seems strange both would fail but what do I know.
So now what? Well, the last things I need are another project and more speakers....But I can't just walk away so anyone know a good replacement drivers for these?

Not so strange if they were overdriven with an underpowered amp.

Someone here might have spare original drivers for that speaker, never know. If you were a Subscriber you could post a wanted ad in Barter Town. I would also check ebay, people are constantly parting out speakers.

As far as aftermarket replacements, I don't know what's in that speaker, you might post a couple of pics of the front and rear of the drivers along with diameters.

Whatever you do for drivers, check out the crossover carefully in case anything is blown up there. Probably good to replace any capacitors - you can use inexpensive Daytons from Parts Express.

There have been quite a few thread on repairing Time Windows. Use the search with the google option.
