Tinting a dust cover.

Most covers are clear. I have a tinted cover sitting on it (not for this TT) that I like as opposed to a clear cover I have coming. Is there a good way to tint it? Sprayed or self stick?

You might try house window tint film, but for windows the surface needs to be flat and I'm not sure if it will peel since it is not glued on. There are the ones for car windows, but the good ones (that don't fade) tend to be expensive. You can always buy some smoked acrylic sheets and make your own.

Something like this? You will also need thin acrylic cement and a way to cut it to size.

Tint spray could be blotchy? Curious. Be interesting to see how it looks applied to the inside.

I would think if it’s on the inside if you try to clean it it will show streaks and blotches.
Clear…or tinted…aftermarket DCs are not cheap, but will probably long-term provide better value.

Any applied sheet tint would be very difficult. There would be seems all around the corners and difficult to lay flat. Unless there is some kind of apply and then 'heat shrink".

I can't think of a good way that wouldn't add some kind of flaw.

If you decide to try film tint and the dust cover has close to square corners, I think you can cut one piece like this and install it on the inside of the dust cover. You will only have four vertical seams, one in each corner. Probably not noticeable since it is on the inside. If you do use window tint film, you spray the surface and the film with soapy water, then position the film and squeegee out the water and let it dry.
