Tips for Installing Hurst Motor in AR XB Turntable?

Hi everyone, I am about to install a new Hurst 3001-0001 motor in my AR XB turntable to replace a dead old Haydon motor (it’s definitely dead—had it checked by a tech). I was wondering if anyone has any words to the wise before I begin. The Hurst’s shaft thankfully is a perfect fit for the pulley. The main tricky thing will be figuring out where to drill the new holes for to mount the motor, which has a bigger footprint than the Haydon—any tips for ensuring that the shaft comes up in the center of the hole?

Would really love to hear from anyone who has replaced a Haydon with a Hurst motor in an AR XB or XA—or from anyone who is knowledgeable about ARs! From what I understand, I do not need to adjust the height of the motor unless I decided to also upgrade to the polymer pulley from Vinyl Nirvana, in which case I would need to fashion an 1/8” spacer.

I've done several motor changes. I had to have a machine shop ream out the shaft hole for the pulley every time. If you do not get it the right height, it could hit the ribs of the outer platter and of course, that would be no good. I suggest you do a little drafting and draw the outline of the motor mount and the holes on paper full scale, cut that out and center it around the existing hole. Centerpunch the screw holes and drill. Deburr the drilled hole on both sides. Make sure nothing is in the way (like the motor run cap or wires when you drill.
 
Not what the OP is asking, but it seems like original working Haydon motors from XA/XBs are around. I seem to remember shaft diameters for the pulley can get tricky though.
