To score or not to score: JBL L100s

Thanks in advance for any wisdom. I currently use two Advent 5002 speakers powered by my Toshiba SA7100, primarily used for a Dual CS5000 table.

I have a lead on some JBL L100s for $300. I love the look of these speakers and the general mythology of them ruling makes them very desirable to me. However, though I've seen them with my own eyes, and they're in great cosmetic condition, conditions beyond my control will make them hard to test out.

Wondering if any folks think this will be a worthy upgrade to a 3-way and if I should go for it. Worth mentioning, is this overkill for a 17x 20 ft. space?

Thanks again.

Agree with Mr. Smog. They are fun, and would pair well with your Toshiba. I flipped mine for twice
your price.

I have bought many and sold some. $300 is PERFECT! Get 'em - love 'em. Hate 'em - sell 'em. You WIN either way.

Mine were beat and I sold them for $350 easily. BTW, I quite like the Advent 5002s. Listen to lots of stuff before you decide. The L100s have an upper mid peak that makes them harsh with some source material. I sold mine when I came upon a $20 pair of 4312s. All the happiness of L100s with none of the drawbacks.

I was going to do the Xover mod but found the other speakers before I got to it.
