I used to see this kind of thing often.
Sometimes it was worse.

Thank goodness I eventually went down another career path.

I spent 16 years as a land surveyor putting these things on maps, and can say for certain that's got nothing on some of what I had to look at.

I have also seen MUCH worse! But my hands are too full of, uhm, work ;) to even think about taking pictures with my cell.

I don´t deal with things like this on a daily basis, maybe once a week or so.

I like my job. I do everything from heating and cooling systems, ventilation systems, gas and water lines, electrical work and lots of other things. Everyday something different, I´m never bored at work :)

My step dad bought a house to renovate and rent. After a couple of summer months the new tenants started complaining of a bad smell in part of the house. My step dad and I went over and could smell it also. It was horrible smelled like someone was dead (don't ask how I know that another parent's tenant story). We couldn't find anything so my stedad decided to go in the crawl space and see what he could find. Well what he didn't find was the bad part.

The bathroom in the downstairs in a part of the house that was added on in the 70's had NO plumbing at all. The sink and toilet drained right under the house in the crawl space. Neither my step dad or I could figure out why or how that had gone un-noticed for so long. That was the grossest thing I ever had to deal with but I made my step dad pay me some big bucks to clean all that up and I found 4 rings and a pearl necklace. that I took into a jewelry store and sold.

All in all I got paid nearly $1,200 to clean it up and help install new plumbing and I still feel like it wasn't enough. talk about nightmares.

I have also stood knee deep in human excrements inside a septic tank. Of course I had waist-high boots on. It still wasn´t pleasant.

I usually just laugh at the smell. I´ve had apprentices and colleagues almost puke when taking apart clogged pipes. Clogged kitchen lines full of fat and urine are worse than ****.
