Today's Blues Playlist

Blues Jam 1969

I found on helluva great LP entitled "Blues Jam In Chicago"!!! On the cover it lists the artists as Fleetwood Mac, Otis Span, Willie Dixon, Shakey Horton, J.T. Brown, Guitar Buddy, Honeyboy Edwards, and S.P. Leary.:music:

Now the REAL cool thing is that it turns out to be a Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green) studio jam from January 1969 with all of the other players as guests.:thmbsp:

I have been collecting Blues, and Rock and Roll for a long time and I have never ran into this before. Anyone else got this, or heard of it??

BB King: King Of The Blues Blues MCAC42183 (Cassette) Featuring Steve Cropper, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, Tom Scott

Haven't seen any mention of Freddie King yet. Wrote lots of songs you'd recognize, many with Sonny Thompson and wrote tons of cool instrumentals. Good guitar, (played with finger picks) but not my favorite. Awesome, awesome voice though, maybe my favorite male blues singer. Raw power vocals that'll blow yer wig off. Check him out on youtube.

Glad to see someone listed Ronnie Earl, love him. Now check Duke Robillard, founder of Roomful of Blues. Now, check out "The Duke Meets the Earl", slow burning and intense, but at the same time the interplay is laid back and without a hint of competition; just two friends playing together and handing off leads back and forth. Tasty.

Jelly Roll All-Stars: "Must Be Jelly"
Recorded 2004 Clarksdale MS
If you want a taste of the raw, electric delta blues, pick this CD up. Recorded live in the studio (in the legendary delta town that figures prominently in a Robert Johnson song), mostly in one take, these guys blow the socks off most modern blues bands. Arthur Williams (harmonica, vocals), Willie "Big Eyes" Smith (drums, vocals), Sam Carr (drums), Calvin "Fuzz Jones (bass), Jesse Hoggard (guitar, vocals), and Bob Lohr (piano) are the real deal (the first three being longtime delta bluesmen, whose credits are beyond reproach—Smith played in Muddy's band, Carr was a longtime member of various Frank Frost groups). Gritty, raw, and groovin' like crazy, the blues doesn't get much more authentic than this these days. Highly recommended.
