If anyone gets the chance, dig up that PBS special, "Rock, Rhythm & Doo Wop" (Dec 2016). A lot of great talent on stage sharing some of the past hits in these genres, with most still being able to carry off their tunes.

The rants of the sales-types get in the way, but I guess it's a have to be in order to present the classic tunes and the performers involved.

What bothers me about PBS and the various local affiliates? They know how many viewers the music programming brings in. That is why they save almost all of it for twice a year pledge-drive time, instead of spreading it around a bit. Aggravating.

I spun Jazz years ago on a public radio station. We all made the best of it, but I HATED pledge time!

STREET CORNER SYMPHONIES--V/A's

The complete story of DOO WOP.

I'm playing disc 7(1955) of a 15 cd series released by BEAR FAMILY in 2012 & 2013. Disc 1 covers 1939-1949; the other 14 discs go from 1950 to 1963.
The SQ, as is usual with BEAR FAMILY releases, is excellent.
 
I have a phone which is almost the equivalent of these old records. It is a flip phone on which close ups don't seem to work. My wife's I Pad takes nice pictures but she would be making fun of me! I will see what I can do. I have a modest collection from back in the day...I do have except for #118 the entire run of Robin/Red Robin all on 45rpm when issued and the rest on 78rpm.
