Today's INDIE Playlist

Ya seems like yesterday.......still quite sad none-the-less:tears:

Yeah. I finally picked up a legit copy of XO the other day. It was the only one I was missing. It makes me really happy to see that there are other fans here. Sometimes I feel like he has been completely forgotten.

Bonnie "Prince" Billie. "Beware".

The sound quality of this album is excellent. No loudness wars going on here (or in most of my indie collection, actually).

TV on the Radio at Goodwill? Wow.

I have terrible luck at the thrift stores. Guess I've got to go more often and/or to different locations.

I really need to get "If you're feeling sinister" on vinyl. I still remember hearing that when it came out. I had never heard Tigermilk, and Sinister was in an employee recommendation kiosk at my local record store. I just remember thinking that I didn't want to listen to anything else after hearing that, ever. The "Push barman to open old wounds" vinyl sounds really nice by the way. It's very well mastered.

I have had incredible luck lately. I seriously think people are dumping their CDs like mad around here. I used to paw through the vinyl at the thrift store first. Now I go straight for the CDs.

just finished listening to:

The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow

Good music for doing dishes, which is good because there were a lot of them to do. :thumbsdn:

now:

Versus - Two Cents Plus Tax

Another perfect album. I love it when a band takes a bigger budget and does something great with it.

I've yet to hear a poor Belle & Sebastian mastering, vinyl-wise. Not to claim they don't exist, I've simply only encountered great sounding records from them.

Dead silent until they burst into melodic warmth - and very revealing is the silence surrounding the respective intros from Tigermilk's "The State I Am In" and Sinister's "The Stars Of Track And Field". I love both of 'em.

Ya great one of his, and I know what you mean, watched The Royal Tennenbaum's the other day with a friend and they play "Needle in the Hay" and my friend said "that sounds slightly familiar, who is that?", told him who it was and he said "oh ya I forgot about him..........:tears:

Some Califone spinning on the table tonight

I had drinks with a guy in that band randomly a few years ago...super nice guy. A photographer friend of mine seemed to know every band in Chicago personally. Somehow I've never seen them live, though, even though they live here.
