I drank what?!?
Long story short, I went to a mid-high end audio shop today to do some R2R troubleshooting (wanted to confirm it's the tape and not my deck, which we did.) Though it's not a vintage store, the owner is a tape head and they have several (mostly functioning) reel to reels, including some studio recorders and a library of master tapes. We talked for quite awhile about the format, history of the recording I brought and some grandiose plans they have to turn part of their warehouse into an event center. They want to host local bands, break out the studio gear and do mini sessions, including making tapes available to their clientele (basically anyone off the street that knows what tape is). They wouldn't break out a master of the tape I brought up to compare to mine (for troubleshooting, not to see if it sounds better) but was still fun none the less. Photos are of some of their toys.
