I've acquired, by chance, a Rek O Kut K33H in good mechanical and working order. It does need new RCA cables, but that's incidental.
The chrome plating on the original tone arm is flaking off over about 1/2 the arm. Has anyone had any experience with getting something like this re-chromed, or should I just sand it as best as I can and use some metallic silver paint? I don't think either would change the mass of the arm enough to push it beyond the ability of the adjustments, so it's more of a cosmetic question than anything.
Also, there is some pitting on the motor mounting plate (this poor thing was not stored well, apparently) which I think I'll just polish out and call it a day.
Opinions on the tone arm refinishing are welcome
It's got a factor Rek O Kut walnut plywood base/plinth, Stamped "Genuine REK O KUT Product" inside on the motor side. Very nice craftsmanship and in excellent condition.
