Tone arm rest fix for Technics SL-1700

Hi folks. I just got my first ever turntable, Technics SL-1700. Unfortunately the arm rest is broken.

Apologies for my English in advance.

This method follows this https://audiokarma.org/forums/index...s-sl-1600-mk1-sl-1700-sl-1800-sl-1950.569278/ guide but I'm able to remove the old arm rest without TT disassembly.

To remove the arm rest, you'll need a relatively heavy wire cutters/flush cutters.
First, cut along the position marked with red line to completely remove the top curve part, exposing the screw inside.

You'll then remove the rest of the plastic pole bit by bit. Simply follows the green line until you have a clean cut all around, then cut horizontaly along the purple line. The cut section can now be peel off with a pair of tweezer. It gets more difficult towards the base but keep repeating the process until the whole thing is removed.

Now you can follow the original post to install the new arm rest.

I hope this helps you to fix the broken arm rest for the SL-1700 and other models that uses the same part.
