Tone arm wiring and RCA's

I have a Pioneer PL530. The tone arm has two grounds, and those two black wires are soldered onto the same lug as the green wire, then the RCA's are R+ to Red, L+ to White, R shield to Green and L shield to Blue.

I want to put RCA jacks on the rear. Is that wiring scheme a standard with regard to the tone arm grounds? Is it best to keep the R & L shields separated at the jacks?

There's nothing essentially wrong with it. Use the existing wires to feed the new jacks would be the easiest thing to do. Just cut them short, strip the ends and connect to the new jacks once installed. I prefer to separate the mechanical (chassis) ground from the electrical (signal) grounds, but this might open up a can of worms.

Many RCA grounds are connected at the amp anyway. Thorens runs the tt ground with and RCA ground so no ground wire. Lots of way to do it.
