Too nice for the garage?

About 7 years ago, my old man gave me his pair of Nova-9s, and last week I decided to re-do the finish on the cabinets; what an improvement! I have no idea why Radio Shack used that awful stain/varnish, whatever the hell they used since they have such a wonderful veneer, but after I knocked the old finish off with my sander, then put on a few coats of tung oil finish, I was blown away; now my old man says it's a shame that the only place we can put them is in the garage :D

Below are some pictures; a before one, in case yer not familiar with what the original finish looked like, then three after pics :)

I had a pair in the 70's that were just an oil finish over the stain ........... no varnish. I bought mine new from the Shack, so I assumed they were all like that. I just used a little "Old English" on them every couple of months.

What's tung oil? Is that what you get when you eat a greasy pizza?

I didn't use real tung oil, though; too pricey; I used the cheaper stuff from Ace, that's supposed to give the look of tung oil. I'm happy with the results, though. Thanks fer all the comments, everyone :) Now, all I have to do is wait fer the weather to drop from 97 degrees, so I can bear to be in my garage to do the second speaker...
