Torn arm lift piston - part name?

Hi all,

I have a TT155 semi-automatic turntable. The tone arm lift piston and the auto return were not working properly, so I cleaned out the gummy old grease and freshly lubricated them. The only problem is that the little plastic tip at the top of the tone arm lift piston crumbled in the process. So, I have to track a replacement down for this tiny little piece of plastic, but I don’t know what it is called to search for it. Not sure if there is a resource to look up Marantz part numbers by model? If someone could let me know what this part is called or where I might be able to look up parts numbers, I’d truly appreciate it.

Well, my model train hobby may have actually come in handy for this one. Given I wasn’t turning up a lot of part availability for this turntable, I had some styrene with my leftover model building parts. I cut a piece to size and drilled out one end with a pin vice and applied a little super glue before placing it on the end of the lift piston. I’m about to test this with a lousy record. Wish me luck!

Looks like the little piece of plastic did the trick. I had to do a little filing to the topic the plastic to get the tone arm at the proper level, and it seems to be doing its job now. I think the lift piston is a bit worn, as it has been a little inconsistent bringing the tone arm back at the right height, but I guess I shouldn’t complain too much for a basic turntable model that is pushing 40 years old. I eventually want to replace it with a fully automatic model that is a bit higher end, but I don’t really know where to start in picking one out. But for now, I’m able to keep the vinyl spinning and for a basic model, I really don’t have any complaints with the sound.
