If anybody is interested I just came across this Toronto, Canada listing on USAM/Canuck Audio Mart for a very nice looking console consisting of a pair of JBL C50 Olympus speakers, a Mac MC 2100 amplifier, an MX 113 pre/tuner, and an Elac 50H changer.

It is listed for $6000 CAD (about $4700 USD)

Outside my area of hi-fi knowledge, but the price doesn’t seem to be that out of whack?

Oddly, the MC 2100 was not listed in the text, but it is clearly visible in the photos. Otherwise it seems like a legitimate listing from somebody who does not sell gear often.

The center cabinet is also JBL. I passed on that same setup (console/speakers) a few months back due to the price being above market for just those items. I was happy to get the Nakamichi gear inside but left the over priced McIntosh alone.

Beautiful cabinets for sure. Not many have the room or level of appreciation for something so large but its a decent price if you want to buy once and be done for a long time.

Price is pretty much full market value:
$3k for the C50, call it $1500 for the Mac stuff, $100 for the Elac.
The console probably hurts value because it is so big (although it is beautiful). I'll bet 4k USD would seal the deal.

Do you have the name or model of this particular JBL center cabinet? I can’t find other examples of this one online

I agree that $4000 US ($5000 CAN) would get this, maybe even lower.

That sure is a beautiful console, especially when linked together. But almost 12 feet long!

@RossW your c50 estimate is off the mark somewhat. These are an S8R load and speakers alone are worth the 3700.00 asking price.

C58 Delphi is the model of the console. It has two panels of the same pierced wood that the Olympus speakers have. The one i saw was immaculate, as was one of the speaker cabinets. The other was near a window and had serious sun fade/peeling from exposure. The seller wouldn't budge from his price, even with the condition.

Good on the seller. Cabinets can be Easily refinished. Finding original Jbl console with matching speakers locally, not so much.

I can't blame him. I was buying before the sale started and he was very fair with everything else i bought. He knew he would have a bidding war with that setup, especially in Southern California. I'm pretty sure he said a guy drove from San Diego to get them, sight unseen.

I just looked at the listing and noticed its in Toronto. My father in law happens to be in Toronto right now. Maybe he can bring it home in his carry on lol

Call it $3400 +/-10% :p

Most recent comp I could find took several months to sell at $3k (originally listed at $4k) and it was an S8R load:

They were also posted on Agon with no sale so the price wasn't for lack of trying.

Like the 3100s that have been discussed here, it's a weird market because it's low supply and low demand (relatively). Since shipping isn't super practical the seller it at the mercy of local buyers which can be hit or miss.

I sold my sovereigns s8r load here on Ak a couple yrs ago for 4200 and the Olympus s8r loads usually sell for more due to better looking cabinets.

Asian exporters will pay well above what cheap American buyers will pay not including the freight to get them overseas. As they would sell for 10-15k overseas.

That's not a Delphi console, the construction is different, the doors don't have fretwork panels, and this console's center door opens, Delphi's doesn't. You can also see that there are large extrusions on the left and right side of the console that fill the gap between it and the speakers, an interesting touch but means that the speakers must stay at its side unlike Delphi. It does look very well built though, even more robust than JBL's consoles.

Funny I see a set that sold for 3700 on eBay local only.

Indeed, not sure how I missed that one.
I agree there's a good chance these will get exported, most of my recent audio sales have shipped to addresses that were very obviously freight forwarders.
