The Los Angeles Dodgers, out of the race for the NL pennant and divisional playoff action, announced today that former St. Louis Cardinal and current Dodger manager Joe Torre will be stepping down after the end of this season. A replacement has been named, I just forgot who... (heh). I guess a sub .500 season drove him to retire before getting fired. That's OK by me, he'll always be remembered as a Cardinal anyway.(STL fan donchano)

I'm old enough to remember Joe Torre from his playing days in Atlanta!
He's ALWAYS been a class act from Day 1, and truthfully?
I'll miss that ugly mug of his, as he's going off on another umpire.

Dodgers hitting coach Don Mattingly is taking over the exiles from Brooklyn. Torre is 70 years old, and will either get paid a kings ransom to continue, or retire. Hated to see Joe leave New York, and the game will miss him if hes finished

Crap.
I really wanted to see Torre and the Dodgers beat the Yankees the season after Steinbrenner fired him. Now it'll never happen. :(

I thought Torre was a class act 'till he wrote his book. I no longer have the same opinion of him. I think the Yankees were right to let him go, probably should've done it one season earlier. I think they were wrong the way they did it unless there was some bad blood that we don't know about and they wanted to give him a public dissing, which they succeeded at.

I predict he'll be the new skipper of the Mets..and keep in mind the cubbies lookin for a manager too..
