Toshiba 3 Speed Portable Turntable

Hi everyone! I bought this portable turntable today and I just want to ask what this part is for. It's located at the back part of the record player, and I tried connecting speaker wires to it, but nothing comes out of the speakers. So yep, just want to know what this is for.

Thanks to all of you in advance!

Looks like a Japanese model?
Maybe a proprietary cable or old Japanese plug. Probably went to an amplifier, which then fed speakers.

Thanks for that! The cartridge it has on it is double-sided. It has LP and SP on each side. I was wondering what SP means. Is that the one used for 78 shellac records?

Open it up and take a look. Looks pretty basic and it looks like you could definitely see where that plug connects to. Could be a ceramic type of output. :dunno:

That looks like a mono children's type of record player. SP would probably be something like Short Play but this is just a guess. What are the 3 speeds?
16, 33, 45?
33, 45, 78?
