Toshiba SA 7150 owners

Bigears

Manager of my own day
After acquiring my third SA 7150, I'm starting to get curious about production numbers on a relatively rare $1100 receiver from back in the day. I would like to start a database for these guys. My collection spans 663 units. I have no idea on the years this represents.

Toshiba SA 7150 owners should PM me with serial numbers so I can build the database. I will post interesting developments to this thread when I get more information.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. Your 89540482 slots right in the middle of the identified range. We need more serial numbers.

I just traded a Sansui TU-719 and a AU-719 for the SA-7150. I got the deal! I will post the S/N tomorrow, Just had to resurrect this old thread.

Wow, okay I'll bite on a 7 year old thread! Just grabbed a quickie shot of my rig, still really clean. Not a scratch or blemish on it, and I got the original owners manual with it too.

Serial number: 8X540534

I know, right. I haven't run a pair of speakers through this thing that I wasn't impressed with. It even did exceptionally well with the Bowers & Wilkins 808's. Recently was running 4 Rectilinear III's simultaneously at a solid 100 watts to each. Breathtaking and could have done it all day with ease. It's kinda heavy though.

I have the little brother SA7100. How about a nudy of the 7150.

I think the 7100 is a nicer looking machine, analog tuner rocks. I don't use tuners, so no loss either way.

Maybe nudy. Will take a gander this coming week to see how easy it is to get the clothes off the sucker.

I have it connected to a pair of Marantz HD77's and it makes them sing.

It’s the same weight and dimensions as my sx-1250. I have to find a permanent spot for it. Wish me luck! :thmbsp:

Well, if you have to go through so much gosh to get a piece of equipment to "fit", isn't it nice to have something so worth the time and effort? HOOyah. Yeah, I need to find another rack.

I totally agree . Every set of speakers that I have tried with this receiver with has sounded good . Even if the speakers were not very good speakers . Its amazing that this receiver can make mediocre speakers sound really good .

Okay , here is a nudie of my beast .

Not too clinical, just enough warmth to round out the goodness.

What are we going to do when something needs to be replaced?

Sold my 1250 and don`t have plans to sell the 7150. Unless I can trade it in on a Macintosh , LOL .

Could you guys give me a description on how the door works for the tone controls? Mine moves open and close but is very stiff dampening in both diections.

The door is dampened by design. Nice and smooth, slow, moves with precision.
