Toshiba SR-FX70 TT overhang measurement

Hey guys, looking for some help here. Anybody know what the overhang measurement is? No luck finding a manual online. Sr-F770 is the closest I could find, which states a measurement of 50MM. I've heard these two models are almost identical. Anyone know if this is true????

The SR-F770 overhang spec is 16mm which is the max distance the stylus arc extends beyond the spindle center point on a line thru the pivot point and the spindle. The 50 mm overhang gauge sets the stylus distance relative to the head shell to achieve the specified overhang. IIRC my SR-F770 did well using Baerwald set with a 2 point universal protractor. I suggest you try that. If the cartridge is straight in the head shell than that’s what the gauge would do. If it’s skewed and that bugs you try Stevenson. It’s a personal choice anyway, but most mid market turntables use Baerwald, aka Loefgren A, because it has the lowest peak and average distortion.

I have an ortofon protractor and I just ordered a digital caliper so I can precisely measure it (the overhang). I'm having a hard time finding a baerwald online. Is that a completely different protractor for s shaped tone arms?

No Baerwald and Stevenson work on any arm and most proprietary alignments fall between them. I used to make these very accurate diamond stylus scribed mirror protractors which aligned the cantilever instead of the cartridge body, but you can print them from the Vinyl Engine site and do fairly well with paper protractors too.
