TOTL Vintage bass speakers

Actually the best way to collect a list might be on the basis of cost - either MSRP, if they were made close enough together so that inflation didn't make a lot of difference, or what you can get them for today. If you put a price range on it, it kinda frees you from whether it's called TOTL or high end.

I would have to add the Carver Amazing Loudspeakers - either edition - to this thread. The Silver Edition (three 12" woofers per side) produce (I have to use this word) amazing bass and are not ear fatiguing.

Some Infinity Quantum Line Source 1's with Watkins drivers 18hz at +/-2 db.

Their was another brand that had a bit more bass but I forgot the name some towers WMVS or something like that, they were reported to have some pretty stellar bass.

^^What is that? Is that piezo tweeter original?
ya, funny how they threw one in out of the 6, my uncle used to hav280'se esr-15 electrostatic add- on panels that went on top. I think they went out or something, but my dad got the 280's and they went to me :)

VMPS I bet.

The VMPS Super Tower ST IIa/R speakers were well liked by Tony Cordesman, in his Stereophile review. Bass to 17Hz, and comparable to Infinity IRS speakers.

Oh yea, JPL/NASA used VMPS subs for vibrational testing, for space qualification. Not too shabby.

My Genesis ll 's with the woofer / passive radiator go about as low as I have heard in something non-powered. They don't get real loud, but seem to roll down effortlessly. They are some of the least fatiguing speakers I have listened to.

Yep. I had a pair with five CTS tweeters (instead of the Philips in the pic, 280DR) and one piezo.
They sounded good, but not great, IMO. So, just for fun, I ran them in parallel with a pair of C-V DX-7s stacked on top, driven by a Mackie M-1200 power amp , using a H/K 430 for a preamp.
That was a great sounding system. It could do orchestral crescendos with an authority that would give you the startles and make you break out in a sweat.
