Hey all, haven’t posted in a while...looking for some advice. I’m trading my
Pioneer SX-680 for a turntable since I’ve actually got 2. I have three options on Technics turntables.
Should I swap for a technics Technics 1300mk2 1400mk2 or a 1400. They all work manually just fine but none have functional auto return. No stock headshell on any of them either...otherwise all original. Do any of these three models perform better than the other? I’ve read that the 1400 mk1 is more reliable than the mk2.

Do you mean Pioneer SL-680?

Assuming so, I would say it seems like a reasonable trade. You can get a nice replacement headshell for $15. And spend anywhere from $50-500 for a cartridge.

As for the auto-return problem...this is common to all. I've seen on ebay that there is a seller making 3D-printed replacements for the part that commonly breaks. It is deep within the bowels of the tonearm mechanism, so can be somewhat challenging to replace.

Sorry I mean SX-680 receiver. But I’m not asking if I should do the trade or not, but which of the three of turntables I should trade for...1 for 1. Anyone have experience and think one of the models is better? Thanks for the info about replacement part...good to know.
