Greetings smart people.
I'm a transplant from the tube world having found fixing up the old silver faced receivers is quite fun. I don't really understand the nature of transistors well enough though so I ask your help.
Finding an exact match to a transistor from 1978 is a task! I am trying to replace the drivers in a Yamaha CR-2020, they were 2sb536 and 2sd381, Hitachi I think.
While I found the 2sb536 at MCM I cannot find the 2sd381 except through the questionable China connections. So...I am trying to find a "equivalent".
Everything newer seems to have much higher operating limits. This should be OK?
I'm attaching the original specs for the 2sd381 and the specs for an almost outdated Fairchild unit (I already ordered from Mouser as it "seems" ok, it was cheap and I was ordering anyway...): FJP5200-otu.
Can anyone tell me if this is an OK substitute?
A parallel question is should I use the paired FJP1943 with the FJP5200 instead of the exact replacement I found at MCM - use two modern transistors instead of one old style and one new.
Of course I may be told here to never go outside the lines and try the from China exact replacement to make a perfect pair but I have had some bad luck with those imports.
Please assist if you can.
Cheers!
