Trouble with commitment....

I always considered myself a Yamaha guy. My first receiver back in the 70's was a CR-620. Today, my main system is anchored by a CR-420 and what's left of a Yamaha YP-701 (Long story). While I tried to find a Yamaha Cassette deck, speakers, and CD player, nothing came up in the price range I had available.... but some other nice stuff did. I found a Pioneer CT-F500, a pair of Sansui speakers, and a Technics dual-well cassette deck, since sold and replaced by a JVC cassette deck (not necessarily a step in the right direction) ...and now I have a Pioneer PD-M410 CD player and a Garrard DD75 turntable. I'm all over the place. So I guess the question on my mind is...Does it matter if everything is the same brand? I kind of always thought it mattered, but now I'm not so sure. It all sounds good, and scratches the itch that got me into this hobby in the first place.

Is there any advantage to having all your stuff from the same manufacturer?

In general, likely not too big of a deal.
 
The best of each manufacturer is what you want. For example, Sansui is highly regarded for receivers, amplifiers, and turntables. But there speakers, not so much. As long as each separate is electrically compatible, different brands should not matter to your listening experience. Aesthetically you may prefer the look of similar gear on your shelf though.
 
Never have I ever ever ever had this thought. However my first really decent system was all Mitsubishi except for the Dahlquist DQ-10's. Since then never gave it a thought. My roommate sold gear at a retail store thus the all Mitsu stuff.
