Trouble with SG-9 EQ

I acquired a SG-9 eq. After hooking it up to my SX-790 the volume when running it through the SG-9, is hardly audible. Any thoughts? I hooked up through the tape monitor loop as per the manual. Volume is normal when tape monitor is off but when turned on to send signal through the SG-9 the volume disappears. If you turn it way up you can hear the signal very very low.

Welcome to Audiokarma! Hope you stick around.

As for that nice EQ, I'd bet you have something not quite connected right. EQ's can be baffling. Follow the flow of the signal, bound to be something simple. Good luck!

I wonder if it's not powering up? Lights coming on?
As in the power supply needs to be looked at?
There is a relay in the circuit for overload protection. Check and see if you can hear or better - look and see if it is working.
The switches probably need a good cleaning.
